Sarah and Emily Hughes See Their Favorite Team

FLUSHING, NY – After winning a gold medal in 2002 and having her sister Emily go the Olympics this year, what does Sarah Hughes do on her 21st birthday?
Go to a Met game, of course.
The figure skating sisters were at the Mets 6-2 loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, but for them, this is a normal occurrence.
“We are Mets fans; we have season tickets,” Sarah said. “Today we got a suite and there's tons of booze in there.”
But that’s not to say she will celebrate her first legal night boozing it up. Emily doesn’t have a license.
The Hughes family was on the field before the game and met some of their favorite players including David Wright, whom Sarah participated with for a segment on her television episode last year.
“For my skating special, David taught me how to hit a [baseball],” Sarah said. “I wasn’t very good at it, my friends said I was so bad.”
No matter because the Hughes family specialty is on the ice. Emily, who finished seventh in Torino back in February, will probably continue her skating career, as Sarah finishes up at Yale.
But of course, they will always go to Shea Stadium.
“Last time I came, I sat with Tom Glavine’s wife and kids,” the older Hughes sister said. “They brought us down after and all the players are so nice. They let us take pictures.”
