The New York Rangers announced today goaltender Henrik Lundqvist suffered a mild hip flexor strain and will be sidelined day-to-day.
It is not know how long the rookie goaltender will be out, but the Rangers are expected to recall Al Montoya from Hartford of the American League to replace him for tomorrow night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Though Montoya will probably dress, expect Kevin Weekes to replace the rookie sensation between the pipes. In 25 games this season, the Rangers’ backup goalie is 11-10 with a 2.94 goals against average, while Lundqvist is 30-11-9 with a 2.18 goals against average in 52 games.
But Weekes is 2-0 against Philadelphia this season.
The game against the Flyers will be played at Madison Square Garden tomorrow at 7 p.m.
