Lizards Down Chicago, 18-11

LISLE, IL -- The Long Island Lizards (3-4) won their second consecutive game, as they defeated the Chicago Machine (0-7), 18-11, at Benedictine University on Saturday evening. The game was tied 2-2 after the first quarter, however, the Lizards scored eight straight points to take command of the game. Stephen Berger was named Bud Light MVP, as he led the team with three goals and two assists.
Peter Vlahakis was outstanding in the faceoff circle, winning 21 of 27 draws and scoring a goal. Seven other players scored for Long Island, including Keith Cromwell (2 two-point goals for four points), Adam Borcz (two goals), Chris Massey (two goals) and Austin Garrison (two goals). Greg Cattrano recorded 19 saves in the victory.
Three former Lizards were in uniform for the Machine. Midfielder Dan Paccione and defenseman Damien Davis were in action, while goaltender Nick Murtha recorded 16 saves in the first half. The Machine are also coached by former Lizard Kevin Finneran.
Long Island hosts the Rochester Rattlers next Saturday at Mitchel Athletic Complex. Faceoff is slated for 7:00 PM.
