by: Jason Gordon | Hagerstown Suns | Tuesday, September 13, 2005
The Hagerstown Suns will have to prove they can come from behind again as they lost their second series' opener of the postseason, 8-2 to Kannapolis.
The Intimidators scored first, but it was the five-run sixth inning that put the game out of reach for Hagerstown. Carlos Torres lasted eight innings and picked the win. Jeff Landing lost despite giving up just three earned runs. The Suns were outplayed in most facets of the game, being outhit 13-4, and Hagerstown defense which had allowed 11 unearned runs already this postseason, committed three errors and gave up four more unearned tallies. For the first time in the playoffs, the Intimidators did not commit an error. Dave Cook had two homeruns in the game and five different Intimidators had multi-hit games. Jim Burt was the offensive leader for Hagerstown, reaching base all three times including a double that he would later score on in the third inning. Grant Psomas homered in the ninth to try and give Hagerstown some momentum going into Game 2 on Tuesday at Municipal Stadium at 6:35. It is the last chance to see the Suns play in Municipal Stadium in 2005, get your tickets by stopping in the Suns offices, calling 301-791-6266 or order them online on the Suns website.
